Shady Valley is a 700-acre addition to South Cumberland State Park, including a 65-acre lake, a rare area of old-growth forest, and a pond. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife diversity of the area through low impact
recreational use: hiking, wildlife observation, star gazing, paddling, fishing, picnicking, and camping.
Design features will protect sensitive natural areas while still providing access for nature exploration. Students from area schools will have access to a new interpretive nature trail and cross-country running trail around the lake.
